7 Days Samburu, Lake Bogoria, Lake Nakuru & Masai Mara Safari

After breakfast, depart Nairobi and drive north, crossing the equator en route to the semi-arid Samburu National Reserve. Check in at Samburu Sopa Lodge and enjoy lunch at the lodge. In the afternoon, set out on your first game drive, exploring the unique landscapes and wildlife of the reserve. Return to the lodge before dark for dinner and overnight.

Highlight: Samburu National Reserve, 350 km north of Nairobi, is bisected by the Ewaso Nyiro River, providing water to the dry landscape. Look for species unique to the area such as Grevy’s zebras, reticulated giraffes, Somali ostriches, and Beisa oryx, alongside lions, elephants, cheetahs, and leopards. The reserve also hosts over 300 bird species, with striking scenery including the rare doum palm along the riverbanks.

Wake up early for a morning game drive, the best time for wildlife viewing. Spot predators like lions, cheetahs, and leopards as they hunt across the plains. Return to the lodge for breakfast, followed by a leisurely morning. After lunch, relax by the river or enjoy an optional walk, observing crocodiles and birds. Head out again for an afternoon game drive, returning to the lodge before sunset.

After an early breakfast, depart Samburu with a morning game drive en route to the gate. Travel south toward the equator for a brief stop, where locals perform a water demonstration and you can receive an Equator Certificate. Continue to Thompson Falls for a photo stop, then descend into the Great Rift Valley, passing lush coffee and tea plantations. Arrive at Lion Hills Hotel, Lake Nakuru, for lunch, dinner, and overnight stay.

After breakfast, depart for the Masai Mara National Reserve, passing Narok town. Witness the proud Maasai warrior-nomads and the rolling hills of the Mara. Check in at Giraffe Hills Mara Camp for lunch, then enjoy your afternoon game drive, spotting wildlife across the reserve’s 700 square miles of savannah and acacia woodlands. Return to camp for dinner and overnight.
